A series of artist-led workshops in Devonshire West to create pavement stickers leading to the Towner, a weekend workshop in a marquee on Seaside Rec making arty-crafty creations, and then an exhibition at the Towner with all the pieces hanging from balloons. Beautiful.

The Finding Your Way project has been commissioned by Towner with funding from Big Local and the Coastal Communities Fund as part of the Driving Devonshire Foward initiative. It is being delivered by local arts company Creative Force.

The project will design unique and exciting temporary signs which will guide people to Towner from two starting points within the Devonshire area.

Stage One will deliver workshops with local community groups in Devonshire West to develop ideas for street signage using exhibitions at Towner as inspiration. These ideas will then be incorporated into final designs for the street signage created by professional artists. The community groups involved are Age Concern, Eastbourne Blind Society, Bourne County Primary School, Charlies’ Youth Centre and Eastbourne & District Mencap.

Stage Two of the project will deliver a weekend of drop-in workshops for members of the public who will be invited to create a small piece of work that, upon following the trail, can be incorporated into a collaborative piece to be exhibited at the Towner.

The drop-in workshops will be on 18th and 19th July. Look out for the Finding Your Way marquee.

For those over 50 join the Monday textile art sessions with artist Silke Savran to be involved with the Finding Your Way street signage development.
