Eastbourne Designed For All: DWBL award £2270
Improving the availability of toilets so people can have confidence to go out and about in Devonshire West
A scheme to get local businesses to offer the use of their toilets and display a sign on their door so that people know they can pop in without being obliged to buy something. The benefit for businesses is that they gain respect for participating in a worthy project and they might even get some extra trade along the way.

Gaynor Sadlo introducing the scheme at the DWBL Community Grants Fair 05/09/15.
“Eastbourne Designed for All’s Community Toilet Project will invite local businesses to consider widening the use of their customer toilets to other people, without them feeling they have to buy something. The aim is to enhance toilet provision in Devonshire West to encourage people to get out and about more – worries about finding a suitable toilet away from home can cause social isolation. Nice toilets can say a lot about the positive, caring ethos of a company, which encourages better business too.”
